Monthly Board Meetings<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Stokesdale Fire District Inc. holds monthly Board of Directors meetings at the station.\u00a0 The meetings are usually held the fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m.\u00a0 Please refer to the events calendar as this date\/time can be subject to change.\u00a0 In addition to the monthly meetings our fire district has an Annual Meeting held in July. This meeting provides information specific to the previous fiscal year and the election of Board members is also held, if applicable.\u00a0 This is a good opportunity for the Board of Directors and fire district management to interact with the public it serves and obtain their input.\u00a0 \u00a0We encourage the public to attend and become more familiar with their community fire district.\u00a0 The below agenda is normally followed, but the fire district is not limited to the following agenda:\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Open Meeting Minutes<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    The Secretary of the Board shall keep minutes of each Open Meeting of the Board of Directors, so that a person not in attendance would have a reasonable understanding of what transpired in the open meeting. If a tax payer in the fire District requests a copy of the minutes, one will be provided as soon as the minutes are approved by the Board in the following Open Meeting of the Board.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Close Session Meetings & Minutes<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    The only time a meeting may be closed to the public is a \u201cClosed Session Meeting\u201d. \u00a0This type meeting should only be to discuss the following: Personnel matters, information pertaining to purchasing a future piece of property, or to obtain legal advice from the fire district\u2019s legal counsel.<\/p>

    Like any other business, there are times that the Board of Directors and management staff must protect the fire district. The Stokesdale Fire District Inc. does not<\/i><\/b> have to meet the requirements laid-out by North Carolina public meetings and information laws, because it is not a government agency, but the Board of Directors strive to be as transparent as possible while also providing protection to the district under their fiduciary duties. \u00a0<\/p>

    The Secretary of the Board shall keep minutes of each Closed Session Meeting of the Board of Directors, so that a person not in attendance would have a reasonable understanding of what transpired in the meeting. These type minutes of the meeting will be kept separate from the open meetings minutes. If a tax payer of the fire district requests a copy of these type minutes, the Board of Directors shall review the request and if the issue addressed within the Closed Session Meeting is no longer sensitive, then the Board may, at their sole discretion, release them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
