Rescue Engine 1804 is an 8-man cab custom Rescue Engine with a 2000 GPM Waterous single stage pump and a 750 gallon water tank. Engine 1804 carries fire suppression tools and equipment to perform duties as an engine company and also carries a large compliment of rescue equipment including hydraulic rescue tools, struts, air bags, air tools, saws and cribbing for vehicle and machinery accidents. 1804 also carries equipment for high and low angle rope rescue, water rescue, and rapid intervention. Engine 1804 features several utilities to assist on the fireground including a large telescoping light tower, in and out of cab head-set communications, an on-board generator, electrical cord reels, air line reels, a cascade system and air filling station, an oil dry hopper, and hydraulic rescue tool reels. Rescue 18 is a 6-man cab responding second out on motor vehicle accidents in our district. Rescue 18\u00a0 carries hydraulic rescue tools, rescue struts, cribbing, and other equipment for vehicle and machinery extrication. Rescue 18 carries high and low angle rope rescue equipment along with additional firefighting and rescue equipment for Rescue Company operations such as saws, fans, hooks, and other various hand tools. The truck has a 35 kW onboard generator, a light tower, and a large amount of scene lighting. It responds to fires, alarms, and rescues both in the district and when needed for mutual aid calls.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

It carries basic fire suppression equipment and a 2000 gallon portable water tank\/drop tank. 1803 is responsible for water shuttle operations in rural water areas of West Yadkin and in mutual aid rural water areas. After 41 years of service to the WYFD, Engine 1804 was retied in September 2013. The apparatus was the primary Engine Company for the department from 1972 to 1989. The apparatus would then serve as the second pumper until 2006, when it then went to primarily reserve status. It did continue to respond to wildland fires and to set up dry hydrants. 1804 was the longest serving single apparatus for the department.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ladder 18 originally was a 1951 ladder for the city of Charlotte, the apparatus was refurbished by Huntersville Fire Department to the equivalent of a 1988 model. Ladder 18 is an 85′ mid-mount aerial ladder with a 1000 GPM Hale pump, with no water tank. L-18 is a 5-man cab, 2 SCBA equipped seats. L-18 has the capability of flowing 2 elevated master streams. Purchased by West Yadkin from HFD in 2006, Ladder 18 served as the first ladder company for West Yadkin. Ladder 18 was finally retired and replaced in 2014 by Tower Ladder 18. At its retirement from service Ladder 18 was the oldest operating Ladder (by age) in the county, but in its 8 years with West Yadkin had operated on more working fires than any other Ladder in the county.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Ladder 18 is a 6-man cab 100\u2032 Aerial Platform. The apparatus features a 100\u2032 steel aerial ladder and has the capability of flowing 2 master streams from the platform along with an attack line for deploying into upper floors of structures. The truck has supplied breathing air to the platform as well. The platform also features a 500 lb winch to allow for quick hoisting and lowering of equipment where needed. The apparatus has a 2000 GPM Waterous pump and a 200-gallon water tank. In addition, the truck has a 7.5 kW onboard generator and a large amount of scene lighting.<\/p>
