This fire department operates off of tax payer funding, so the Board of Directors and fire department management feel the strong need to be as transparent as possible. This fire department allows the public to attend and participate in the following meetings, located at the main station of this fire department.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This meeting allows the Board of Directors and fire department management to interact with the public it serves and obtain their input, a quorum of 10 members of the West Yadkin Fire District are required to be in attendance.       The Secretary of the Board shall keep minutes of each Open Meeting of the Board of Directors, so that a person not in attendance would have a reasonable understanding of what transpired in the open meeting.\u00a0If a tax payer of the Fire District requests a copy of the minutes, the fire department will provide you with a copy as soon as the minutes are approved by the Board in the following Open Meeting of the Board.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

      Close Session Meetings & Minutes<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

      The only time a meeting may be closed to the public is a \u201cClosed Session Meeting\u201d. \u00a0This type meeting should only be to discuss the following: Personnel matters, information pertaining to purchasing a future piece of property, or to obtain legal advice from the fire department\u2019s legal counsel.<\/p>

      Like any other business, there are times that the Board of Directors and management staff must protect the fire department. This fire department\u00a0does not<\/i><\/b>\u00a0have to meet the requirements laid-out by North Carolina public meetings and information laws, because it is not a government agency, but the Board of Directors strive to be as transparent as possible while also providing protection to the fire department under their fiduciary duties. \u00a0<\/p>

      The Secretary of the Board shall keep minutes of each Closed Session Meeting of the Board of Directors, so that a person not in attendance would have a reasonable understanding of what transpired in the meeting. These type minutes of the meeting will be kept separate from the open meetings minutes. If a tax payer of the fire district requests a copy of these type minutes, the Board of Directors shall review the request and if the issue addressed within the Closed Session Meeting is no longer sensitive, then the Board may, at their sole discretion, release them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
