Fire Department Services: Expertise and Care When You Need It Most

FIRE SUPPRESSION

The central mission of our department is life safety through fire suppression and prevention.  Our second priority is property conservation, which is achieved by containing fires and limiting the damage they cause.

While these fire-suppression priorities have remained the same over the years, the types of fires and the dangers we face have dramatically expanded and include:

  • Residential fires
  • Commercial fires
  • Vehicle fires
  • Grass/brush fires

RESCUE

Along with expanded fire-suppression efforts, our rescue duties have evolved to include not only extricating individuals from burning structures, but also rescuing people in all types of situations.

As a result, we train constantly in the use of a wide variety of specialized tools and techniques – from rappelling down a steep incline to conducting rescues in water.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS (HAZMAT) MITIGATION

Our team is also trained to provide Haz-Mat mitigation services at the Operations Level.  This means we are qualified to understand and interpret the hazards of a chemical incident and assess the risk, provided the scope of equipment, resources, training and personnel on scene.

UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES/SYSTEMS

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles augment our operations and are excellent tools to deploy when manned aircraft are unavailable, if the mission is too dangerous for manned aircraft, or when deemed more cost-effective than conventional aircraft. Our drone fleet is utilized in conjunction with land search, fire operations, swiftwater rescue, and various daily operations.

SWIFTWATER RESCUE

The Lewisville Fire Department Swiftwater Rescue Team is comprised of individuals with specialized training for response to Surface water, Swiftwater, and Ice Rescue emergencies within our home district and surrounding areas.

Lewisville Fire is also the host agency for the Forsyth County Swiftwater Rescue Team. These same team members work in coordination with partner agencies within Forsyth County in response to water rescue emergencies throughout North Carolina during large scale emergencies.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

Our department responds to medical emergencies in the Lewisville and West Bend fire districts. The location of our fire stations enables a quick response time in most cases. Our Emergency Medical Technicians are trained and equipped to provide initial treatment for a range of life-threatening issues:

  • Cardiac arrest
  • Stroke
  • Gunshot wound
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Seizures
  • Environmental emergencies
