Engine 1801

2006 Pierce Arrow XT

Engine 1801 is a 6-man cab custom Engine Company with a 1500 GPM Waterous 2-stage pump and a 750 gallon water tank. Engine 1801 is the primary structure fire apparatus for West Yadkin and therefore carries equipment that is mostly for fire suppression operations. Engine 1801 responds first out in the West Yadkin Fire District on all structural calls and alarms as well as vehicle fires and hazardous condition calls such as gas leaks. 1801 is also set up to respond to medical calls and responds to mutual aid calls when needed.

Engine 1802

2022 Pierce Enforcer Pumper Tanker

Engine 1802 is a 6-man cab custom Pierce Enforcer Pumper Tanker with a 2000 GPM Waterous single stage pump and a 3000 gallon water tank. Engine 1802 is the secondary structure fire apparatus for West Yadkin and therefore carries equipment that is mostly for fire suppression operations. Engine 1802 responds second out in the West Yadkin Fire District on structural calls and alarms as well as vehicle fires and hazardous condition calls such as gas leaks. Engine 1802 is set up to serve as a relay pumper, but can serve as a primary attack engine.

Rescue Engine 1804

Rescue Engine 1804 is an 8-man cab custom Rescue Engine with a 2000 GPM Waterous single stage pump and a 750 gallon water tank. Engine 1804 carries fire suppression tools and equipment to perform duties as an engine company and also carries a large compliment of rescue equipment including hydraulic rescue tools, struts, air bags, air tools, saws and cribbing for vehicle and machinery accidents. 1804 also carries equipment for high and low angle rope rescue, water rescue, and rapid intervention. Engine 1804 features several utilities to assist on the fireground including a large telescoping light tower, in and out of cab head-set communications, an on-board generator, electrical cord reels, air line reels, a cascade system and air filling station, an oil dry hopper, and hydraulic rescue tool reels. Engine 1804 responds as the primary rescue company in West Yadkin’s area as well as on structure fires and alarms. 1804 is set up to respond to medical calls and also responds to mutual aid calls when needed.

Heavy Rescue 18

2004 Pierce Lance

Rescue 18 is a 6-man cab responding second out on motor vehicle accidents in our district. Rescue 18 carries hydraulic rescue tools, rescue struts, cribbing, and other equipment for vehicle and machinery extrication. Rescue 18 carries high and low angle rope rescue equipment along with additional firefighting and rescue equipment for Rescue Company operations such as saws, fans, hooks, and other various hand tools. The truck has a 35 kW onboard generator, a light tower, and a large amount of scene lighting. It responds to fires, alarms, and rescues both in the district and when needed for mutual aid calls.

Tanker 1803

1995 International Semo

Tanker 1803 has a 2-man cab and a 1000 GPM Hale pump along with a 2000 gallon stainless steel elliptical water tank. It carries basic fire suppression equipment and a 2000 gallon portable water tank/drop tank. 1803 is responsible for water shuttle operations in rural water areas of West Yadkin and in mutual aid rural water areas. When 1803 first went into service, it was the largest tanker in Yadkin County and was the first with an elliptical style water tank. 1803 responds second out in West Yadkin in rural water areas and first out on mutual aid in rural water areas.

Brush 1814

2004 Ford F-550

Brush 1814 is the primary unit for brush, grass, and woods fires in West Yadkin and on mutual aid calls. 1814 has a 3-man cab and has a 150 GPM pump and a 300 gallon tank. It carries various equipment for wildland fire suppression operations. 1814 responds first out in and out of district for wildland fire calls and first out to trees blocking roads. 1814 is also fully equipped with BLS medical equipment.

RETIRED APPARATUS

Pumper No. 1 - Retired 2013

1972 Ford

After 41 years of service to the WYFD, Engine 1804 was retied in September 2013. The apparatus was the primary Engine Company for the department from 1972 to 1989. The apparatus would then serve as the second pumper until 2006, when it then went to primarily reserve status. It did continue to respond to wildland fires and to set up dry hydrants. 1804 was the longest serving single apparatus for the department.

Ladder 18 - Retired 2014

1988 American LaFrance

Ladder 18 originally was a 1951 ladder for the city of Charlotte, the apparatus was refurbished by Huntersville Fire Department to the equivalent of a 1988 model. Ladder 18 is an 85′ mid-mount aerial ladder with a 1000 GPM Hale pump, with no water tank. L-18 is a 5-man cab, 2 SCBA equipped seats. L-18 has the capability of flowing 2 elevated master streams. Purchased by West Yadkin from HFD in 2006, Ladder 18 served as the first ladder company for West Yadkin. Ladder 18 was finally retired and replaced in 2014 by Tower Ladder 18. At its retirement from service Ladder 18 was the oldest operating Ladder (by age) in the county, but in its 8 years with West Yadkin had operated on more working fires than any other Ladder in the county.

Rescue 1818 - Retired 2014

1988 Mack

Rescue 1818 served as a rescue and support truck for the department up until 2014. The apparatus was retired with the addition of Rescue Engine 1804 being followed by Tower Ladder 18. Both these apparatus absorbed certain roles of 1818.

Wagon 1802 - Retired 2020

1989 Mack Grumman

The “War Wagon”, 1802 served as the primary engine company for the department from 1989 to 2006. It was the first “custom cab” style apparatus to serve in Yadkin County. 1802 has a 2-man cab and a 1250 GPM 2-stage Waterous pump along with a 1000 gallon water tank.

Car 18 – Duty Officer Vehicle - Retired 2020

2006 Ford Expedition 4×4

Car 18 functions as a command vehicle for officers of the department or assigned duty or shift officers. This apparatus carried equipment to aid incident commanders in incident command and coordination of emergency scenes. The vehicle also carried extra SCBAs, extinguishers, and medical equipment.

Squad 1815 - Retired 2020

2004 Ford F-350

Squad 1815 responded as a support vehicle to rescue calls and is also the primary medical response vehicle for the district. 1815 carried additional hand tools, cribbing, haz-mat equipment, water rescue equipment, and state of the art medical equipment for BLS. The truck also carried mass casualty incident supplies for incidents involving multiple trauma patients.

Ladder 18 - Retired 2022

1996 Pierce Arrow 100′ Aerial Platform

Ladder 18 is a 6-man cab 100′ Aerial Platform. The apparatus features a 100′ steel aerial ladder and has the capability of flowing 2 master streams from the platform along with an attack line for deploying into upper floors of structures. The truck has supplied breathing air to the platform as well. The platform also features a 500 lb winch to allow for quick hoisting and lowering of equipment where needed. The apparatus has a 2000 GPM Waterous pump and a 200-gallon water tank. In addition, the truck has a 7.5 kW onboard generator and a large amount of scene lighting.

As of December 1st, 2021, Ladder 18 is in reserve status, then sold in March 2022.
