Section 3.2 Number & Qualifications of the Board of Directors
The number of elected Directors shall be eight (8). All eight (8) Directors shall meet the following qualifications:
– Shall be a resident of the fire district;
– Shall pay property taxes that support the fire department;
– Shall be a minimum of eighteen (18) years old;
– Shall be a legal citizen of the United States of America; and
– A minimum of two (2) and a maximum of four (4) of the nine (9) total Directors shall be active Volunteers with this fire department.
– The Fire Chief shall automatically hold the ninth (9th) seat on the Board of Directors in a voting capacity and the Fire Chief shall be titled as the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the fire company.
Section 3.3 General Terms
– Each Director elected shall serve a three (3) year term unless removed per Section 3.7 of these Bylaws.
– Terms of the Directors shall be staggered so that approximately one-third (1/3) of the Directors will be appointed each year.
– The term of each Director shall continue until his/her successor is elected.
